Well after 3 years of hunting in East TN, I finally put one on the ground today! This morning I was laying in bed trying to convince myself to get up and go hunting. Finally at 10 I rolled out of bed and snuck into my little bit of ground I've been hunting. I figured that since the rain all day yesterday and the full moon last night, they would be moving mid-morning. After I checked a scrape that I have been watching, I eased across a creek bottom and sat of the downwind side. I had no sooner sat down, cleared the leaves from my spot and got comfortable when this cow-horn spike came walking down the creek bottom. I swear I had been sat down 5 minutes!! He stopped where I crossed the creek bottom, threw his head up and I let the muzzle-loader roar! It was a 50 yard shot and a perfect neck shot. The monkey is off this guys back now. Meat in the freezer!
