New to the forum so first I'd like to say hi to all. Second is the deer hunting at Standing Stone park any good? Just curious if anyone on here has hunted it and if they had some good results. Thanks
 
Never hunted it. Drove though it several times and played paintball in it. If your not in good shape, you will know it.
 
Welcome to the site. I have done a lot of work in the state park section, and seen quiet a few deer there. Did some scouting around in the WMA during turkey season and found some decent deer sign, but have never hunted it.
 
There are deer there. It gets hunted pretty hard by the weekenders but it's been a few years since I was there. My grandfather in law owns land around it and they are right to say my mountains will put you in shape!! It's all ridges and hollers.

There's not ever been a single deer spotted in those parts. LOL I've hunted it for the last two years, not a lot of sightings but there are plenty of deer around, better be fit though big hills and hollers. Good luck.
 
Thanks guys. I will for sure keep an eye out for the rattlers. I'm usually in pretty good shape so I'm not too worried about the hills. I figured it would be packed on the weekends so I was thinking about hunting it during the week. Need to go scout it some more for sure.
 
It is a special WMA now with special regulations. Just making sure you know the rules. Went and scouted it last year looking for a place to kill does with the mz and noticed a placard that says special wma rules applies. Turns out NO DOES with the ole smoke pole.
 
We hunt it every year at least a day or 2. My dad has killed several good deer there over the past 5 years. You just gotta get in and scout it. We see deer everytime we go in there. But like smallies said, check the rules. There are alotta does there. Just be sure when u shoot there's 3 inches on that head.
