Anybody got a good squirrel recipe. When my Grandfather fixed them they were good, when I try......well lets say even the dogs snub their noses at it.

Thanks,
HD

Fried in an Iron skillet with gravy and yeast biscuits is hard to beat but if you can't fry a chicken right the squirrel will probably be kind of dry and tuff.

you might try

quartered 4 squirrels and marinated in 2 table spoons of sesame oil and 1 1/4 cup of cooking oil 1 cup orange juice 1/4 cup of black pepper and 1/4 cup of garlic powder 1/2 cup of teriyaki sauce.
then grill over hot coals or camp fire for 3 minuets per side.

I always though the secret to squirrel was low and slow. My favorite way to cook it is to quarter it and wrap in bacon. Throw on the grill for about 45 minutes to an hour and then coat in your favorite bbq sauce and cook another 15 minutes. At this point you can eat it. If you think it is still too tough, wrap in foil and bake another 30 minutes to an hour in an oven at 350 degrees.

The best fried squirrel I had was fried in flour and spices and the a gravey was made and poured over the squirrel. It was then baked in an oven for an hour at 350 degrees.

My fried chicken is pretty good as for the fried squirrel ..O well. Will try the "brine" way and also the grillin way. Also, seemed like he boiled it before he fried it.

Thanks,
