Never heard of it. I was just curious to see how long it would take for this topic in a completely different forum about something completely unrelated to turn into a 2 buck limit debate/argument.

Never seen that argument on this forum. Arguments you could start on this forum would be to age or not to age venison, the use of salad dressing for marinade, wrapping in bacon, and perhaps whether or not recipes meant for farm raised waterfowl work for wild waterfowl.

As for squirrel pie, one could make that with or without the bones. I hate dealing with bones so I would make it without which makes it a bigger pain to make. I would probably make a fired squirrel with gravy, let it cool and pick the meat off the bones and put the meat back in. Then add frozen peas, diced potatoes, diced carrots, then pour into a pie shell with the dough from another pie shell laid across the top and bake for 45 minutes at 350. It would basically be a squirrel pot pie.

My biggest complaint these days is that my eyes are getting old and its getting really hard to tell the difference between a buck and a doe.

The problem is that the bag limits are too liberal and the rimfire season is too long. Plus, there are too many squirrel hunters who are indiscriminately killing out 10 squirrels a day. If TWRA would get its head out of its arse, maintain better thermal imaging data on the population, require physical check in for squirrels, and have a shorter rimfire season maybe we would have some more trophy squirrels in the woods. Don't even get me started on "meat hunters." I hunts for tails. I think we should have tail restrictions and public land should go to priority point draws. Oh, and band squirrel hounding because its too much pressure. Also, we really need predator control as those dang owls, hawks and eagles are decimating the infant retention. Birds of prey: Kill them all!

lol. like anyone could kill a limit with a rimfire.

All the more reason to reduce the limit.

I'm just glad squirrels don't have antlers.

You trophy hunters really pizz me off. For the love of Mike, just leave us "meat hunters" be for once. :poke: :stir: :smash: :moon:

Would this be the proper thread to start proposal polls to see if anyone wants to extend squirrel season? Or maybe add a few weeks to the season where only slingshots are allowed?

You guys are lucky. I remember the great mast failure in the late 60s. Squirrel pie was scarce way back then.
