Squirrel Hunting with a Pistol

Does anybody squirrel hunt with a 22 pistol? Ive been thinking about it just because of how easy it would be to get through the woods. I have a Ruger 22 /45 with a 1.5 - 4.5 X 32 scope on it. I think it would make a great squirrel hunting pistol. Im just looking for pros and cons and any ideas that anybody has. Also, Ive looked and can't find anywhere that says its illegal to do this, so I assume its perfectly ok to do so.

Not a 22 but a savage 17hmr. It's a lot harder than shooting with a rifle but fun.
