Squirrel hunting during deer season

In addition to the centerfire rifle I would use for harvesting deer, am I allowed to also carry along a .22 rifle and have with me in a ground blind ? Obviously, I would never shoot a deer with a .22 (I would hope no true sportsman would), but am wondering if it would be legal to shoot squirrels with the .22.

From the Manner and Means Proclamation:

" During the muzzleloader and gun deer/bear season, a legal
deer or bear hunter may use rimfire or airguns .25 caliber or smaller to hunt small game"
