we planted clover this past fall over seeded with oats wheat...want to try and keep the cover going throught the spring and summer....

need to know what to spray on it to keep the weeds out....
do we need to fertilize
any suggestions on how to spray it....dont have a tank sprayer...but our main plot is only about a 3/4 of an acre

any help would be greatly appreciated

I believe we use Arrest on clover and I believe it is for all broadleafs. We have not had to use it in about 3 years because somehow the weeds have stayed out of our clover for that long. So I think that is the name of it. Anyways, it worked great. It is fairly expensive, and I am sure you can get some cheaper stuff. Though it seems that all that stuff is expensive these days.

This is what I use for my clover plots.
You can fertilize if you like. I did not fertilize at all last year and the deer still ate the clover to the ground. Lime is good or better than fertilze if you can do just that.

sethoxydim for grasses
butyrak 200 for broadleaf weeds.
My spelling may be off a little but you can get them at the co-op and you need to spray in early spring when the weeds and grasses are young and only about 6-8 inches tall. After that mow a couple time during the summer before any unwanted weeds and grasses go to seed or as much as you can.

fertilize
0-19-19 or something without any nitrogen. Nitrogen will just make your weeds and grasses grow.
6-12-12 would be as much nitrogen as have used when no other was availible.

Hope this will help.
