Food Plots Spraying around planted trees and shrubs

I have planted some wild plums. I would like to kill back the grass around them.

Can I use a bucket to cover the plum then spray around with Roundup/glyphosate?

Yes, just anything that keeps gly from drifting on the vegetation.
