Don't have all the details but it appears our own Spook Spann has been busted on a couple federal wildlife violations allegedly pertaining to buying deer tags in KS, killing deer inviolation of KS laws then bringing them to TN.

Don't know all the facts, that is just what I heard. Anybody know anything?

The only, and I mean only, time I've ever been able to watch the guy is on the video where he is jumping around yelling "we set the world on fire". Right after he arrowed the largest reported buck with a bow taken on camera or something like that. I'm wondering if these charges are related to that buck?

Coach, I believe that is one of the bucks. Don't know the full story but something about wrong tag for where he killed it. That makes it illegal in KS. Then, he brought it to TN. That made it federal.

Tha is about as much as I know and about all I care to know.

He is one of the few I actually watch. Before completely bashing the guy lets see what plays out. Could've been an honest mistake...

Just goes to show what money and ego will do to people, and how "trophy mania" is ruining hunting.

I wondered when it was going to happen...US Fish &Wildlife entered his home last Jan 2011 and took the rack and video of the hunt...

IMO This is what happens when a state either raises its non resident license to an unusually high price or puts a quota on how many non residents it will let hunt.

Hunters dont quit going they just quit buying the tags.

He bought a tag. Just killed the deer in the wrong area for the tag.

BSK hit it dead on with the fat of the fat.

he is so goofy. he thinks he is a professional athlete and some kind of superhero, in a 5ft 7" 160 lb package

Last time i bashed him the mods deleted my post and sent me a nasty gram. I know how he is first hand. I'll leave it at that. Glad they took his mount. Kinda puts him in the same class as the Ft. Campbell poachers.

It could be true...but, when you stop buying your licenses you are no longer a hunter or a sportsman, you're a poacher..imo

And you think these "poachers" care?

Let me put a slightly different spin on this, now that I have a tad more info after talking with the guy what wrote the story.

Again, I'll say Spann DID HAVE A TAG. It was some sort of lanowner type thing and he was not on the property he owned.

A- That made the kill illegal. Did he know this? I do not know. It would seem to me if he had, he would not have done it on television.

B-Since the kill was illegal in KS due to A above, when he trandsported the antlers/head across state lines, that made it a Federal violation. Did he know this? I do not know but it doesn't matter.

C-This case has been under investigation for quite some time. He will be formally charged/arraigned whatever, I think this week in KS. So far, he has not been arrested or charged with anything. The antlers have been confiscated.

D- He may well be guilty of nothing more than stupidity. However, that is no excuse. But, at least we have had a short time to rest from Stann Potts and the $33K lease.

We can for while if you like, talk about Spanns 103 yard shot on a mule deer with a bow and some new fangled fletching thing.

More of the same, money and fame fogging the brain to make bad decisions! He is a legend in his own mind!

IMO a totally unethical shot. I don't care if you can robin hood arrows all day long at 100 yds, you can't control what movement that deer will make from the time you let it go until the arrow gets there. There is no way an ETHICAL bow hunter takes that shot.

Just wowand that is not neccesarily a good wow either!

A totally unethical shot. Not just because of the yardage either. If Spook was shooting the same angle as the cameraman he took an almost full gowing away shot.
He should be ashamed to even have that on video.
I've never and will never try a "hail Mary" shot on any game animal unless it's already been wounded.
