Spectator/tag along

I've put it different ways in the "search" but I'm striking out. I "think" I know the answer but I'm no wildlife officer. If someone wants to just tag along and just be in the deer blind but not hunt but just watch and somewhat learn the ropes of hunting do they need to be licensed. My buddy wants to know the ropes of hunting and over Thanksgiving break I'll be hunting and told him I'm pretty sure he has to have a license to even just be watching but I've been wrong before, just ask my wife

He can go with you and observe without a license. However, he cannot assist in any way. That includes calling, carrying equipment, etc.
