You only get so many opening days. I've been fortunate to spend almost everyone of them with my best friend even when he had to start flying in to do it with me from out of state. Turkey hunting is just so much more to me when he is in tow and we get to spend time In the woods with a shared passion. Dude is one of the best turkey hunters I know and we have just always had this unspoken communication when we hunt together and it's always been that way.
Hunted a spot we have hunted together countless times of the years and got on birds right away. Most of the flock pitched down and worked of but one Tom stayed in the tree longer. Years ago we would have left to chase the group but decided to stay and see what he did. Turns out to be the right call. Pitched down and yelped him into 18yds and it was over.
just as cherry on top it turned out to be a banded turkey. Didn't even know there was any in that county so it was a huge shock when we walked up on him
