I just got a pre 64 Win Model 70 in 264 Win Mag with a 26" barrel. My reloading manuals are weak at best with info for this round, and I was wondering if anybody has some good recipes for 120-130 gr bullets. I was going to try the 130 gr Accubond and Scirocco, and the 125 gr Partition. The guy I bought it from(a gunsmith) said he lengthend the thoat so bullets could be seated further out. Any info would be appreciated.

Dude... we need to meet at ORSA one weekend... I will bring my pre 64 264 and we can shoot them together....

the only load I have tried so far was the 130 gr TSX... ppushed by 53.5 grains of IMR 4350

Let me know what you try in the accubond... I would be very interested...

Congrats.

Haven't played that much with a .264 and the only powder I used much was the former H-870.

A good friend of mine has used only one load with 120gr Nosler BT and 125 gr Partitions in his 264's IMR- 4350 and Fed 215. I don't know his exact charge though, but that load is in the old lyman manuals we talked about at the range a few weeks back. ;) He started low and worked up to the max listed in it and hasn't changed since, and for darn good reason form what targets I've seen.BTW Sako's sound very similar.

BTW2-He has mentioned some of his friends have gotton great results with AA-8700 in theres. esp those who used to use H-870.

Lucky dog. Lets see a pic. What are you going to put on top of it?

I know it will be something that will go up to at least 12 power, leaning more twords 14-16 on the high end. I dont like an adjustable objective, so if I get one it will probably be a side focus. The new Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 is high on my list, and so is the Vortex Viper 4-12x40. It will be a while b4 I can do anything, paying for the gun pretty much broke me for a while.

Is there very many factory loads for this round?

Nope! Win and Rem load a 140 gr bullet, and thats about it. Not a big deal for a handloader, there are plenty of good bullets for 6.5.
