First I have to say I was let down 4 times. Early in the evening, before it was dark, I hooked a huge carp... buddy I was fishing with said it looked too big for the creek we were fishing.
Didn't get a good look at the fish itself, but it through the water real fast, broke the surface, and shortly after the hook came out like a loose button. What gets me worked up about it, is that I think it was the grass carp I have seen that looks around 20 pounds (unusually big for the Harpeth river). Old lamprey head for those who remember my other posts. I can't say for sure, but he ran like a grass carp.
So I lost 3 other fish that night, but also landed 3. Fished until almost 2 in the morning.
I was fishing with two friends and one of them caught his second, or the first I have ever seen, flathead cat in the harpeth river. I have been fishing this river for 8 years and never seen a flathead till now. We wanted a catfish to cook over the campfire, but let this one go to hopefully grow bigger and reproduce.
And here are my fish
It was cool fishing last night, 3 people, 5 rods, all with glow sticks on the tips and all fishing off the bottom. Got to do it again sometime. And a campfire always makes it better.
