I bought some Snap Caps for my .270. Are these safe for the firing pin. I know this is probably a very stupid question, but wasn't sure if anyone has damaged a firing pin with one.

I'd rather spend a little more time with real ammo on the range.

I dry fire all my guns while adjusting trigger pull. But it's only done 10 times or so per rifle, so it's really not enough to ever justify buying a snap cap.

Make your own snap caps. Take a fired shell, remove the spent
primer and fill primer pocket with hot glue. After use, reheat
the glue and you can use again.

you can also take the eraser from an no 2 pencil and shape to
to fit the primer pocket and you have your snap caps.

I have been using them for years with no problems.

With your .270 it won't hurt the firing pin to dry fire it without the snap caps.

CVA in the manual does not recommend it. I think the snap caps were a good investment. I sit in my house and fnd an object and practice my trigger pull keeping the cross hairs on the target.

Good deal, You can use the fried the case with its spent primer for a time or 2.I've been know to do that at the range to get over the ol flinch or make sure I ain't.
