Have anyone really hunted with these scopes? I heard good and bad but they are on par with the leupold VX-3's.....I am stuck between sightron or leupold. My budget is 400.00 max......

I have never heard anything bad about the Big Sky. I have heard that some are disappointed with the glass of the SI before but what do you expect for a $100 scope. I'd still put it up against a VXI anyday. The warranty of the Sightron is every bit as good a Luepold if not better. I have an SII and an SIII and they are exceptional scopes. The Big Sky is suppose to have as good of glass as the SIII but uses a 1 inch tube rather than a 30 mm. Its like comparing a Nikon Monarch to a Nikon Monarch Gold, ie same glass, different tube. Based on my experience with the SIII, I would say the Big Sky is every bit as good as the Luepold. The only reason to pick the Luepold over the Sightron is because of name recognition.

You can't go wrong with either scope.

I have 2, both SII Big Sky, a 3-9x42 and a 3-12x42. I also have a Zeiss, and optically I would put them right there with it. They smoke my Leupy VXII and Nikon Monarch. They have the optical quality of the Euro glass with the weight of a Leupold...best of both worlds IMO. They are the truest tracking scope I have ever used, and so far they have held zero perfectly, but I have only had them since before deer season, so I cant really compare durability to my other scopes.

The Extra Low Dispersion (ED) glass in the Big Sky sets it apart from many scopes. Kimbermans Big Sky's were optically better than my Leupold VX-III that I sold last year.
