The only time I can see being overly concerned about taking young bucks is when you may have several adjoining smaller parcels of land supporting numbers of different hunters and each group killing numbers of young bucks off each of those different properties. Collectively, that could net fewer bucks available to reach older age brackets.

Killing too many buttons may be a concern however it pales in comparison to the concern for not killing enough does. Also due to dispersal the buttons you kill will likely be dispersing to someone else's property. If you are worried about killing too many BBs we really should educate the neighbors too. I've killed a few but really try not to and it usually happens when I'm desperate to kill a doe. I try not to be desperate because that's when mistakes happen.

This can happen Mike. However, I don't think it happens as much as hunters believe it does these days. More ands more hunters now pass up at least yearling bucks, which is all that is necessary to produce a better buck age structure.

But my comments were more geared towards state regulations. We do NOT need any further regulations geared towards protecting young bucks.
