I got news today that TVA decided times have changed and they no longer want a gun range on their site,,

I was not a member but shot some matches there and hate it for the paying members,,dang political correct crap angers me to no end,,

I understand that Nov 15 TVA will change the locks and thats it,,

I used to shoot 22 rimfire silhouette matches every week down near Guntersville lake in Alabama at a nice range on borrowed land. We had it made being right by the lake shooting into a natural canyon wall spot. No way bullets could get out of there and it was convenient as you could ever want. Great setup until they started building houses around the lake. WE did sometimes shoot centerfire for load testing or whatnot, but as they started building houses nearby we backed off and stuck to rimfire and the silhouette matches 100%. Well, one day some new home owner came down boiling mad telling us how we were knocking pictures off the wall and busting dishes in his wife's china cabinet. We stood there listening with mouths gaping expecting him to laugh. I had a hard time not telling him he was a ***** liar since his house was 200 yards behind us to one side and we were only shooting 22 rimfire rifles. Well, we got to shoot the rest of that season and the land owner finally said he was taking too much heat for the noise and perceived danger so we had to leave. I assume they tore down the nice concrete covered shooting area with 4 concrete and steel shooting benches. One of the guys I shot with bought some land nearby and we moved there. It was not even remotely as nice or convenient though.

I've been a member there for 20 years...I've been going every weekend now, just to "say my goodbyes" and get everything ready for hunting season. They haven't agreed to the Nov 14 date yet; they still could shut us down anytime.

Between buying new land, getting zoning, moving whatever buildings and equipment from Gallatin to the new site, etc, I bet it will be over a year before we can shoot again.

Ron and Rick said the Nov UBR Match was still on and that the cease fire was still Nov 14 as of last Sat Oct 1,,

I really hope it is only a year before that get the new place up and going,,its gonna be a lot of long drives next year to get to shoot the UBR matches but I have a place to shoot at home and I really feel bad about the guys that was the only place they had to shoot,, :bash: :bash:

Rick said they had like 1200 members and 400 on waiting list and some money put back and were really pushing forward looking for land and had a good lawyer to get the zoning pushed through so hopefully it will be bigger and better when they open the new place,,
