what's a good way to sharpen a broadhead blade? Do you need a stone or can I use some other sharpening device? Do I need a razor smooth edge or does it just need to be sharp enough to cut through a deer? I was shooting a NAP thunderhead into the hay bale target today and I believe it is still sharp enough to kill a deer, but is definitely duller than the unused blades. It is farther back on my quiver so I have 2 fresh blades to choose first when I shoot at a deer or turkey. But all my blades will need sharpening at some point so what are some good ways to get it done?

A razor sharp edge is what you aim for. That way it slices through the blood vessels as it goes through rather than pushing them aside or tearining them.

A clean slice bleeds much more freely than a tear and is slower to clot leading to increased blood loss.

A diamond hone that you may find in the fishing section for sharpening fish hooks works well.

cool. I guess my pull-thru sharpener will work if I do it carefully... Has a carbide and a ceramic, also with a diamond rod for serrated knives. I can hold the blades with pliers to run them through the sharpener.. Also I'll check out the diamond hone.
