Well I finally got everything together and ready for break in. I have been gathering parts for a year and a half for this build and after only doing break in today I couldnt be happier. Tim definitely did me right with my barrel work.
Rem 700LA tried
Bartlien varmint contour 5r, 8.5 twist finished at 26 inches
Little b@$+××× brake
Greyboe terrain stock, bedded
Timney 510
Vortex razor gen1 5-20 with precision matched rings.

This is just barrel break in with zero load development so everything was shot on a clean bore. I will also say that my front rest was great today but I couldn't get situated on my rear bag.

Its no secret my favorite caliber is a 280, A Big thumbs up for the 280AI.
How do you like the stock?

very nice rifle and I am sure it will shoot as I am yet to see a rifle he barreled that would not shoot,,did you use the reamer for Nosler 280AI brass or the one that uses Lapua 30-06 brass that you have to fireform??

ever time I get money saved to rebarrel my 25-06 I wind up getting another fat Krieger 6mm for one of my target rifles,,but when I finally do it I have it narrowed down to the 280AI or a 6.5x284,,

HAPPY SHOOTING.

Delightful guy to work with for sure, that part could not have been better. I hope it pleases you for many years!

The chamber is for Nosler 280AI brass the 280AI/06 reamer is still NIB.

I love the stock. It is very natural and comfortable. Probably not the best for bench or position shooting but it is what I wanted for multiple reasons. It is a great hunting stock for sure.

You are one of the biggest reasons I contacted Tim! I used the saami team we for Nosler brass because I didn't want to turn necks on a caliber I may also use for hunting in adverse conditions or on a rifle I may use for prs.

Tim you are top notch and will have anything from me in the future! I have zero doubt it will please me for a very long time!

Dang, y'all make me want to have Tim build me a rifle!

Hunter, there's no doubt you'll get those groups tightened up a little more but it's shooting very well already. What velocity were you seeing with H4831sc? If you get a chance, you may want to try RL26 as well...it produced incredibly tight groups and stupid velocity in my 280AI.

I honestly didn't even get out the chronograph today since I was just breaking it in. I am gonna try to shoot a few ladders this week and will get the chrony out for that for sure and will, post back. Tim is by far the best I have worked with even though he is trying to talk me into bergers. Lol

168`s were the top of our discussion.....lol!

I would probably shoot 160 Accubonds to hunt with and for sure try the 168 VLD`s for all out accuracy,,,the Hornadys will probably be good enough to shoot MOA steel but I never get my best groups with them,,

the 168 SMK shoot very well for the money also,,

:x

I am definitely open to trying other bullets. Why do you
Think it is that the hornadys don't shoot as well?

IDK I have shot a bunch of Hornady bullets at steel plates and they shoot plenty good for that or to hunt with and they have good BC`s but shooting on paper for group or score I have a lot better luck with the Berger and to some degree Sierra bullets,,

The ladder is shot today shows some promise.
162 eldm
H4831sc 58.5, 58.8, 59.1
Nosler brass
Cci lr primer

To keep under .5 at 256 yards I would say I'm getting close.

I will be honest, I didn't give Tim a loaded case or a request for a certain freebore. I told him what I was planning to shoot and let him have at it. I also have not taken the time as of yet to measure length to the lands and had a ladder loaded and a mid range charge of enough loaded for break in at saami spec. I haven't had time since break in and the initial ladder to go any deeper into load development or measuring.
