I have a spot not accessible by equipment....I knocked down the brush and grasses with a weedeater last winter. Then killed off in the spring with gly and then again last month.

Went back this weekend and everything was pretty much dead. It was bare dirt in some places, but much of it had the dead grass matted on the ground. I didn't have time to rake the whole area, so I broadcast 2-3 times the recommended planting rate. Downpoured over an inch last night.

Will the seed take without raking off all of the dead plant matter?

a week later and it is sprouting very well. The dead weeds/grass were not covering as thick as I thought. In fact, I am hoping they will help protect against the severe heat wave this week.
