new rankings -- I expected TN to drop a little more than 3 spots, coming in at #15 now. Im thinking its going to take 2 series wins to climb back to the top 10 maybe 2 sweeps to get back in the top 8. I dont know other SEC/non-sec teams sched. But TN has a tough row to hoe got final series against VANDY & ARK.

Miss state was ranked 16 nationally last year and we were told we weren't going to host a regional because we had some ugly mid week losses very early in the season.

They allowed two other teams out west to host regionals at their dismal facilities out west.

If your RPI is good and you don't have any ugly losses you should be ok, but I wouldn't want to cut it close.

Rivalry series. ole miss took game one. This is game two of the double header.
 
Big crowd, good to see for the sport, but ticket prices are getting crazy.

TN had a good 1st game win against Vandy 3-2. Got the lead early and held it through complete game. I liked it because it wasnt homers for scoring. Hitting got enough, defense 1 error, pitching Doyle was on and bullpen gave good support. Vandy had 3 dbl plays, hitting wise TN lefties need to do better at hitting with the shift on. Makes no sense to me to keep hitting grounders to the right side with the shift on, Vols did that several times. Game 2 today at 5pm. Vols really need a series win or sweep even better to climb back into the top 8.
 
This miss state team is flat out nerve wracking! Game 3 was the rubber match tonight against our rival. We are looking good leading the entire game it's 6-1 until…

We start slipping and we start making mistakes. 10 walks two errors and a hbp is not a winning formula. It was 6-5 going into the top of the ninth and we had lost all momentum. We walk the first two, no outs.

Miraculously, we found a way to turn a double play and with a runner on third, we catch an infield dribbler up the middle and slam the door!

It was an ugly win but it's a series win against our rival. I think we will make the regionals unless something crazy happens and we get swept by mizzou next weekend.
 
Vandy and Vols are projected as the #8 and 9 seeds for the NCAA tournament, so this series win is really important to both. 3rd game should be really good. Hope the Vols can get the bats going more, oh and stop Vandy bats. Vandy had a good win for the 2nd game.
 
A&M got swept at their house by the worst team in baseball. That will drastically effect their regional chances. They will need to win out and do very well in sec tournament.

I'm so glad they changed that sec to single elimination. That was too many games added before regionals

I didn't see it either. I was at a high-class dinner place for Mothers Day. But was hitting refresh under the table every few minutes on my ESPN app 🤣

Think it was around 12 left on base including bases loaded in 9th. Left one on 3rd 4 or 5 innings
Can not get hitting down.

Also pitching. Had at least 2 1-2 counts and throw fastball down middle for 2 or 3 HRS
 
Homeruns - Vandy had 1 player with double digit HRs, but they lit Vols pitching up several HRS with 0-2/1-2 counts. Vols better get the hitting figured out and soon, again terrible hitting with ROB/RISP. Also errors--3 in the last game with Vandy. ARK will be tough for Vols, just getting out of regionals right now is not looking good for Vols nor is the SEC tournament.

I tell you what I did, I just kept saying we are going to break out this series. Then eventually we fired our coach and started playing like I knew they could. We have a good chance to make the regionals now if we take care of business against mizzou.

Y'all started off great, y'all have talent, just have to get back on track.

Who knows keep hope alive because today could be the day they reignite their season.

It's THE trend… Win the natty fan base expects to repeat and royally suck the next baseball season. We did it in 2021, ole miss did it in 2022, LSU won it in 2023 and was lousy 2024. TN looked like the team to buck the trend at the beginning of the season but the ship is running out of steam.

It's time to reignite and catch your second wind or continue the trend…
 
If you need a confidence boost, lookup post season baseball champion's record the following season.

Miss state 2022 we sucked! Look up ole miss 2023 season. Look up LSU 2024 season then compare it to TNs post championship season this year. I guarantee y'all are in better shape this year than those 3 aforementioned teams.
 
For me, I think the very best our team can do this year is make the supers. We will be on the road and I just don't see this team going to Omaha…

That said, if we don't go, I'm cheering for the razorpigs to win the whole thing. They have some stupid chants, but I like their fans well enough. Most of em have been very down to earth towards me. Arky keeps a competitive baseball team and have been very close to winning a baseball natty.

I don't want to see anyone else repeat unless it's us and we aren't good enough this year.
