Some good games today.
Alabama hit a 2 run homer to go up by one in top of the 9th. The evens the series. RTR!
Ole Miss took the series against Kentucky with a 5-4 win in the 12th inning.
Texas A&M evens the series against Tennessee with a 9-3 win.
They're playing again now.

We aren't happy at Miss State. We might fire our HC before the season is up if he doesn't turn things around. I'm good with firing him tomorrow and letting the pitching and hitting coach run the rest of the season if we drop this series to SC. I expected to sweep them.

I know we aren't great at most sports but we have a higher standard on the baseball diamond than other sports. Our goal is to host regionals and make trips to Omaha.

We haven't been close since winning the natty in 2021. We didn't make the post season in 2022 or 2023 and we were a 3 seed last year.
That's not good enough for the amount of faithful fans that continue to show up at the Dude.

We have lost some close games to good teams, but 2-9 in sec play isn't gonna cutting it for much longer.

They put 11 on the board today.
Miss St definitely likes there baseball. The SEC is so good. Wins can be tough to come by.

The first Tn game was horrible. I sat there burning up the whole game and decided to leave the beginning of the second.
I've got a fraternity brother who is from knoxville and his parents have season tickets to the baseball game. He said on our group chat it was really hot at the game. sent this pic.

Auburn took the series against Alabama. I hate Alabama lost this series. The SEC is so tough I was hoping to get this series.

Tennessees Liam Doyle pitched out of his mind today. Pitch count was 111 but in a close game it was more important to play match up and secure the win. He really competed well in front of his old program on their field.

Here was Liam Doyle's last game of the season in 2024.

I guess ole miss forgot about ambushing his first pitch fastball tonight!

SEC baseball is becoming very balanced lately the same as sec basketball was this last season.

SC picked up 2 national titles back to back 2010 and 2011. Vandy stepped in next and took it home in 2014 and then again in 2019. Since then, not one team has remained at the top for more than a season.

FL won it in 2017. AR had it and dropped the ball to oregon state in 2018. (still wish they would have gotten that one!) covid won in 2020, Miss state won it 2021 followed by Ole miss in 2022. LSU in 2023 and TN in 2024. I'm throwing in OK, TX, TAM, AU and AR into the mix as well because they have all also made recent trips to Omaha.

I think out of these 12 programs, all of them are trying establish themselves as a dominant dynasty and become a perennial front runner in baseball without success.

Id put money on it one of these 12 sec teams wins the national title this year too.

He had a heck of a night. 8 and 1/3 innings pitched. I think it was 14k's

He was FIRED UP

I'm surprised GA won that series. I thought Arkansas having the pitchers they've got would have turned out in Arkansas favor.

I expected TN to win they had a much higher team era going into the series. TN still had to have some late game heroics to clinch the series and Ole miss just didn't have the closer to slam the door.

I would think the teams with the better eras should start rising to the top more and more.

I'm thankful for everything Lemonis has done. Well wishes for him and all of his future endeavors. I think Auburns HC Butch Thompson is pretty high on our list. Both he and Nick Mingione (KY) were assistant coaches at state before taking their respective jobs.

Wow, Miss St takes baseball seriously.

The SEC is a cut throat league. Not sure a new coach is the answer, but time will tell.

we are mediocre at most sports, but we expect more from our baseball program.

I saw our talent and expected them to be ranked in the top ten throughout the season and win most of their series.

Even Arkansas and Vanderbilt who haven't won a natty lately are relevant and ranked every baseball season.

miss state had a very favorable sec schedule this year. We've squandered it, and it's been frustrating to watch.

We didn't have TN, Vandy, Arky, TexasAM or GA. I kept waiting on us to have a break out series, but the errors and fielding mistakes continued into more and more close losses that we gave up.

Early in, I thought we would have finished well above the .500 mark in sec play and secured our opportunity to host regionals.

I think they are hoping our pitching coach (who I think did a great job by really turning things around in that department these last two years) can finish 7-2 and we can crawl into a regional as a 4 seed. If he can do that, they might give him a raise and a HC spot.

Dropping to 12 will hopefully serve as motivation and a wake up call. That game 1 9th inning debacle at LSU still stings and ultimately cost them the series win.

Yeah I think the sweet spot in the rankings is 3rd through 6th. I kinda like flying under the radar until it's regionals. Being number 1 puts a target on your back. Being 8th and losing first game in the conference tournament might knock you out of the top 8.

Everyone wants the ticket to omaha to go through their home field. Being in the top 8 and winning your regional also secures that the super regionals will come to you.
