Is there a big difference in scope rings? I bought a VXII to go on my slug gun, it has a counterlever barrel any suggestions on what would work best.

The vxII will work fine. You are talking about the cantilever scope base that is permanently attached to the barrel but sits over the top of the receiver right? For the rings I would use the all steel Weaver models from my local Wal-mart. The Weaver either 'quad-lock' or 'grand-slam' have more internal surface area(the area the grips the scope)than other brands. With a heavy recoiling slug-gun you will want the rings to grip the scope body so the scope doesn't slip in the rings. Yeah, I'd go with the Weaver's from Wal-mart.
