Savage/Pac on its way

The guy that is putting my Pacnor barrel on my Savage got the barrel this morning.He put it on,and in 4 shots this is the group he came up with..I'll be shooting the 195gr barnes out of it,he used the 200gr xtp's since they was cheap.He done all this free of charge..I know the gun will shot,question is can I hold her steady and shoot just as good.We shall see,he's putting it in the mail in the morning.Should have it mid week..Im pumped.

These are the 200gr XTP's.The guys over on dougs,has said the 200gr xtp is extreamly explosvie and bad to fragment at close range at the velocities that these 45's push them.

They are good coyote rounds at that speed, no good on deer.

That is an awesome group! What powder are you going to use? I get 2200 fps with n120 pushin a 300 gn what did he get pushing the 200?
Dang now I'm thinking about a new barrel......

In looking at Richards loads on the other board with about 70 gr he is averaging 2840 with N120. That's movin! and I really don't think I would want to trust a pistol rated bullet that fast on a deer. The 200 SST look good and you can grab them at any Walmart for 12 bucks for either 10 or 15 I can't remember. You would have to swap the sabots but you would have to buy sabots anyways right. I use them in my Knight 50 cal for the kids to shoot. Light bullet = little recoil and kids like that. I'm pushing them at 2100 fps and no problems at all taking deer with it. I've actually used them as close as 10 and far as 160 yards. The long shot only went 10 steps. They held up really well.

Looks like you are all set Cecil. I'm glad to hear this after all the BS you went through with your factory barrel. Keep us posted on the new setup when you get it and shoot it.
