Savage 116 ?

Does anyone have one? How accurate is it? The one I was looking at had the accustock and accutrigger with a muzzle brake on the end that you could turn on or off. I was looking for different gun which everyone seems to be out of stock and I have looked everywhere, they all say on back order and it will take 6 months. At one store the guy was really wanting me to buy the savage he had in stock and said he would shoot nothing else, made it sound like it was the best, lol. I have owned or been around about every gun made but never a savage and was wondering about it. I did play with the trigger at the store and it was very nice.

I have 4 Savages and they are all shooters. I have a 16 in 308 for hunting and love it. Sub MOA with factory hunting ammo (not cor-lock garbage). My model 10 shoots 1/2" with hand loads. I won't buy another brand for a bolt action rifle.

I've fooled with a few savages. If I was in the market to buy another rifle it would probably be a savage. The 16/116 is a nice gun

Even the non-Accu-trigger models (read Axis) are accurate. Rarely do you hear of one that is not a good shooter although the Axis models have trigger an stock problems that lead to poor accuracy.

What surprises me is the prices. For ugly (IMO) firearms they command a premium and they generally get it. If you get a bargain in a caliber you want, best snap it up.

I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one, they are shooters. I would buy their high end one with bottom metal.

I have a pre-accutrigger 116. Its very accurate but the action isn't very smooth. The newer models may be better.

savage has up to a $75.00 rebate until end of year. I have 4 savages just bought 2 axis with accutrigger close out at Wal-Mart for 199.00 each with weaver scope they have 50.00 rebate on them net $149.00 each. hard to beat for the money.

This is a 116 Bear Hunter in 300WM.
Brand new barrel: I took one shot to check for function, pierced primer, extraction, etc. and then fired the 3 shots of Prvi Partizan. (It didn't like Federal and WInchester as much.)
I'd say it does okay.

since I am having trouble finding a Winchester model 70 I am probably gonna go with the 116 bear hunter in .338. I watched a guy on youtube last night shoot 1/2 moa at 1000yds with one.
