Sandhill Crane Hunt Sunday

I drew 2 tags this year, excited to chase "The ribeye of the sky." I cant wait, although 2 tags dont seem to be worth most people's time. I have anticipated this hunt more than anything this season. I have seen ducks and geese work decoys but for a bird with a 6 foot wingspan committed to decoys is gonna be an absolute site to see!

I saw a slew of them today on percy priest when I was out scouting. I was completely bummed out when I ran home and saw that I had to have draw tags to kill them. BEst of luck!

Spit, next year put in for a NC tundra swan tag. We can do a party hunt option on the tag. 80" wingspans and shake the ground and when they fall out. But the cranes are 100x's better on the table.

I put in for this. Thought for sure I'd get a draw but no joy. Maybe next year.

What are the odds on getting drawn for a tag?

I used to get drawn every year when I lived in NC. Went on about a 10-12 year span after moving to TN and never even applied. First year I decided to do it again was 15' and didn't get drawn but drew a tag in 16' and 17'. Resident/no resident has no bearing on success I think it's simply more people applying. I believe they issue 5000 tags.
