Some of you may remember this buck from a few years ago...my son shot him and we were trying to figure out where he was hit. After watching the video several times and getting input from several of you, we determined that he was hit in the leg. Here is the video:

Now, fast forward three years and this buck shows up on my trail camera about 150 yards from where my son shot the buck in the video. What do you think? Think it might be the same deer?

Yes, he is looking rough. Hopefully we'll get a crack at him this fall. If it is the same deer, it's amazing he has lived this long. My son teared up when I showed him the pictures.

Doubt it. Progression of the injury in my opinion of the deer in the latter pics would be from a more recent injury than 3 years ago. Probably hit by a car in the last 6 months. That deer would never survive the yotes here and yes it needs put down if it makes it to season.

After watching back a couple times looks like the deer your son shot was hit closer to the knee.

I would try to work something out with the local game wardens to put that deer down now. I hate seeing them in bad shape like that. Had one like that a couple years ago, during the summer, and did what I thought was ethical. He could barely walk around to eat or drink.
