Saddle or vent rib mount?

Saddle mount for me.
I have the saddle and it allows me to still use my bead beneath it, if I needed.
I've had a B Square saddle mount on my 870 for 10 or 12 years. Works great for me.

I prefer the drill and tap method to mount a rail honestly, but if I'm not going to go that route a saddle is my next choice.
Drill and tap is great with steel receivers. But, on some of the alloy or aluminum, the heavy recoil from a shotgun (particularly a 12 ga) can end up stripping out the screws..
I had a friend find that out the hard way when he missed a huge buck due to having a scope base that was loose due to a stripped screw. He had used a torque driver to screw them in, so it was most likely the recoil that did the stripping.
