I have an elderly Mossberg 500. It is not tapped for a scope. I really don't want to fool with having it tapped. So I bought a saddle scope mount. Have any of y'all ever fooled with one?
I had a saddle mount on my son's 870 for a few years with a red dot for turkey hunting. It did what it was intended to do. He hunted with it for a few years like that before drilling and tapping it for a smaller reflex sight.
I'm a big fan of scopes on tight shooting turkey guns and have been using a saddle mount on my 870 for years and years. I always planned on getting it drilled and tapped but never did. I've never had an issue with the B-Square. For folks that count ounces it adds a few but not enough to notice.
Dang guys. I hadn't even thought about using it turkey with a scope. I was thinking deer. Use it where it's muzzle loader or shotgun.
Now you done got me thinking turkey too.
Put a B-Square on my son's 20 gauge 870 when he was younger. Had a Leupold 4X on it and he killed deer with it. Never had a problem with poi shifting. Would be a good alternative if you didn't or could not drill and tap. Very easy installation too.
