Ok I live in Campbell county hunt there and Knox and Roane also I've been in the woods hunting hard since 11/1 in those counties except for the draw hunt at LBL. I have yet to see any chasing to speak of although I've killed my biggest buck to date which was alone. My question is has the rut gotten rammed up or are we still in for some serious action? Your thoughts please

I'm wondering the same. I've seen some pestering since mzloader opener, but no hard chases. In the past I've always seen the older bucks either in person or trail cam around the 10th-18th of December. East tn by the way.

I've seen the same observations and I've hunted hard since 11/1/16 also. I've seen one mature buck and he was with another young one. Have yet to see any chasing. Normally I've seen three or four chases by this point.

Same we've killed several and none have had swollen necks or dark tarsals.

Same here my buck was the same tarsal not dark neck not swollen nor was he stinky weird some say the rut is in full swing I think we are just getting started with the best hunting still to come days are getting shorter and IMO thats the real trigger

I Hunt Anderson, Knox, Roane and the rut is wide open and has been for over a week now.

In my neck of the woods it has been going on pretty strong for about 3 weeks. Older bucks have been visible all times of day, single does all over, chasing. My brother watched a breeding Friday. It definatly ain't over but I believe we are past peak. I saw a herd of 9 doe/fawns today and that usually starts to happen late in the rut. Just my 2 cents.

Very strange as our whole hunting party has had as good a week of hunting as I remember for several years. Mature bucks and chasing every day for the last 9 days, mix of public and private land across 3 counties here. I guess some small pockets of deer could be late? It happens.

I hunt Rutherford and Wilson and have heard other say it is wide open, but we have not seen anything this year. In fact this is the slowest year I can remember. I have seen one spike pester a doe on the the 20th, but still have groups of does and does with fawns.

On my place it is usually wide open from the 20th +/- a couple of days and that will go through Thanksgiving. I took M-W off and have hunted hard since Nov. 19th. and have seen deer on most sits, including one of the 2.5 year old 7 pts i have running around, but he has been alone. I did see a new 6 pt I have never seen Saturday am. Then saw 3 does together Sunday Am...

I did see a lot of daytime activity on the 12th, but that is early and that was one day. Also all the bucks were by themselves in the pictures. Just milling around. I don't know what is going on this year.

My buddies and I have had a great start to riffle season just not seen any real chasing to speak of. IMO the next 10 days after this front goes through is gonna be a great time in the woods and I plan on being there :super:
