River Cane Question

I've always brushed blinds with oak mostly and a little cedar at water line. I plan on brushing my son's blind this week and have a good bit of oak. I was thinking of putting river cane on there too. I have access to a bunch. Maybe 50/50 oak/cane. Does river cane hold leaves decent? I thought about waiting to cut the cane until later this month then finish off brushing with it.

It will hold leaves decent. Not as good as oak.
I have a bunch of yellow groove bamboo and it holds leaves better than the native stuff.
We usually dot it in with oak and also use it during the season for patching.

I think you will be better served with that.

Yeah I only put cedar low. Hate when the needles fall down my collar.

Yea cane thins out pretty quick. We had a steady supply of cane and bamboo but most used it to push down in the mud and use as "bracing" for oak or cedar.

Can ruin your whole day trying to find that ONE ppiece.

We tried river cane on our pits in NE Arkansas a couple of years back, even on a rice field levee the color was way off. We went back to the natural cover on the levee and it worked so much better
