For those of you that use them I am curious how you rig your lifelines on your ladder stands?

I personally have never used a safety vest in my ladder stands but with 2 nephews who are starting to hunt on their own I feel it is time to change things up a bit and start implementing the practice.
I don't feel comfortable preaching to them about wearing a vest and not following my own advice...
I bought them both a HSS vest as an early Christmas gift and need to get the lifelines put up!

I would run it around the tree at the top, over top of the seat, and along the rungs of the ladder. That way if someone were to fall, they'd be next to the ladder. If the rope runs along the tree with slack, if you fell, you'd be on the tree with nothing to grab onto.

Thanks guys!
Will get some tied up.

I tried on one of their vest and like the HSS better than my Muddy Harness!! May have to order me one also :)

What type rope or line is best to use?

The life line is made of nylon rope.

I put a nylon strap around the tree above the stand. The same strap is what I connect my safety harness to. Connect to the life line, climb the ladder. Disconnect from the life line then connect to the strap. I also added a short nylon web strap to the belt. It has a loop sewn in both ends. Originally made to tie down a motorcycle on a trailer. This allows me more movement while in the stand without feeling like I am tied to the tree,

I use my safety vest but it's hard to maneuver around steps going up. I don't think I can take another fall so I'm going to rig some life lines for the hang on stands. I know how to hook up I just need to know what strength nylon rope is adequate without going overboard. Does one stretch more than another, etc. and where do I get it?

We throw around tree and loop back thru the eye an then tie it to the bottom rung fairly tight. My 9 year old daughter been using them for 2 years. Matter fact the stand she hunted on juvi the lifeline seemed to have disappeared. So I went back at 9'pm and attached another lol. I won't let her climb without it.

Hook it around the tree at the top of the stand and tie it off on the bottom rung. Need a little slack so they can move once in the stand but still fairly tight with not a ton of play.
