So I just now got around to writing this up. Night before rifle I had the 7400 dead on at 100 half inch groups shootin 180gr core lokt. Next mornin I'm sittin in a tree with that confidence of knowing that if I see a buck then its in my kill range. In these mountains there ain't too many places where you will get over a hundred yards. I decided since I still didn't have no meat in the freezer I was just gonna take what the woods offered. About 7:30 I hear somethin walking the ridge line towards me. I turn around and see tines and didn't give it no more thought. The first opportunity he gave me at a shot was at 89 yards. He walked in comin from the west so when I scoped him the Sun was reflecting back into my eye so it.took a second to get a bead on him. As soon as I had a clear shot I took it, as soon the gun went off he buckled ran twenty feet and dropped. Not the biggest buck but I was lookin for meat not a trophy.
