Retrieving Game Outside of Season

Just curious what the TN law says about an incident like this where hunter made an executive decision on the spot, without having asked first (due to ignorance of the law or whatever).

Hunters in similar situations like trailing game after dark can be seen on TV all the time, and it seems to be common practice. Thanks

Unfortunately, your question falls into the "what-if" catagory without a set answer. Situations such as that would be looked at on a case by case basis.

When a hunter decides to go outside of the regulations, they are opening themselves up to prosecution if the violation is observed. With that being said, most of our officers understand hunting, and a call in advance may lead to the go ahead to retrieve game in such situations. Calls after the fact may not be as forgiving.

I wouldn't base ANY decision on what I saw on TV. I observe things that would be in violation of TN regulations almost everytime I watch the outdoor shows.
