What kind of impact would there be if you could shoot all 3 bucks in one day?

I have often wondered the same thing. If the state allows you 3 bucks, if you can take all three, why not?

The hunter could harvest one, check it in from smartphone on the hunting property get another if he likes.

Thats one thing I like about some other states, you buy your license and you get all your tags and use them anytime throughout the season.

1- The buck kill would go up because during the early season, bucks are often still in bachelor groups.
2- Once three bucks are killed, a significant number of hunters would quit hunting, therefor, the doe kill would go down.

If this were removed, we would see quite a few more hunters taking 2 bucks (ANNUALLY) instead of one. This is because when conditions are most ideal for any of us to kill "a" buck, there is often another coming along or present.

On a personal level, yes, there have been times I wished I could kill 2 (or more) in the same day. But if this were allowed across the board, three things would happen:

1) The annual buck harvest would go up, probably more than if we simply increased the buck limit to 4 or more.

2) The doe harvest would go down.

3) Almost no hunters would kill 3 bucks (in a day), simply because they wouldn't want to stop buck hunting for the remainder of the season. But lots of hunters would kill 2 in a day.

Just my opinion, but believe we're overall better off with the 1-buck DAILY limit.

But I'd be less opposed to it if we had a simple 2-buck limit. :)

Good points bw.

not a huge deal to me. i agree with BW who has valid points that would affect more of the nonselective hunters. however, for mature buck hunters, being able to kill two bucks the same day could be an advantage on peak days during rut/firearm when multiple mature bucks may be seen on the same hunt. i saw two huge bucks on an illinois hunt about an hour apart. although i could kill only one (and did), if it could happen there it could happen here on the right day

Some areas of the state have short doe seasons already, so what about those areas?

Well, It's probably happened for years. Hunter shoots a Buck that morning and A.)Shoots another that morning and gets his brother/Friend/cousin to check it in for him. Or 2.) Shoots one that evening and checks it in the next day. I've done good harvest 2 bucks in 1 season, let alone even SEE 2 in 1 day.

BW is wrong in my opinion, imagine that. Those who are like me and like to kill does will kill them and hunt them. All of the hunters I know that do not shoot does it makes no difference what the buck limit is, they are not shooting does and there are still MANY hunters who WILL NOT shoot a doe.
