Remington 700 Varmint 308

looking for advice

looking to upgrade remington 700 in 308. first upgrade will be stock. reccommendation????

McMillan is the way to go. They are pricey, but you get what you pay for.

the factory stocks on the VSSF are HSPrecision and very good.

mine is an older model that was on clearance at a big name sports store. the reviews i have read say the stocks have a few binding points.

Find out where its rubbing and sand it out. Look around and watch for a used B&C or a McMillan. www.stockystocks.com is a good place to look around.

thanks i have been reading the reviews on b&c and found soome used mcmillians. found the one uncle sam uses on the m24 used but it is HIGH.

ordered a couple from stockys. got the B&C A3 on a sps 308 varmint right now. A lot of people don't like the fat square fore end on the A2, but it is very popular.

The ones from McMillan that are cut for M24's have a different barrel channel than a Remington Varmint. The M24 had a heavier barrel contour.

B&C Medalist is what I put on mine. I got mine in olive/spider web. I ordered it in the Remington Varmint model, because it looks like the H/S Precision stocks that came on the Remington Sendero rifles.
