Got this posted in general and thought I would post here too:

Fella's,

My dad is heading out west for his first elk and mule deer hunt and he is shopping for some new bino's. He is not trying to break the bank but also doesn't want to go cheap and find himself without the ability to see what's happening one ridge away. His eyes are not as good as they used to be and he also wants to make sure they are waterproof. Got any suggestions?

Thanks

swaro 8x42 EL's are the quintessential binos for out west. wish I could afford them!

vortex and steiner have some decent glass in the $300-$500 range.

Promaster Infinity Elite ELX ranks right up there with the BIG 3. It has the ED glass and is top notch without the high price tag.
