ANy recommendations for good AA batteries for camera? I have tried several without good success.

What kind of life should I expect (days, pics, etc)? I typically run 8 batteries in each camera. The 2300mAH NiH batteries I have tried last about a week or 75-100 pics. Does not even come close to cutting it. They seem to check out as fully charged but by the time I get them in the cameras (normally a day later than charged) in the field they only show to be 60%. Bad batteries?

I guess it depends on what cameras you're running. Some eat batteries. I get about a year out of my lithiums in RecoynX cameras and that's several thousand pics.

Sounds like you have bad batteries, although would need to compare your rechargeable results to say some standard Duracells. How long do non-rechargeable batteries last in that/those cams?

I also use rechargeables a lot, and can usually expect at least 3 months and thousands of pics from a single charge.

You either have some faulty batteries, a faulty charger, a faulty cam, or some combination of these problems.

I like the Tenergy rechargable AA's. In my Covert Black 60's, I get at least 4 months and 8,000-10,000 pictures out of a set before I swap in a different set. You do need a "smart" charger to charge them properly, and I normal set a cycle to fully discharge them and then recharge them in order to get the best life and highest charge level in the batteries.

Anybody hooked up a solar panel to your cams?

I leave several of my trail cameras and Plotwatcher Pros unattended for months at a time. With those cameras I use a 12V SLA battery pack from Stealth Cam and a 12V solar panel from WGI or dual-6V SLA batteries and a 6V solar panel from Hunten to keep the SLA batteries charged. These setups add about $60 in cost to each camera site, but it's worth it to me to know that my cameras will not run out of battery power in between my visits. Because of how they operate, my Plotwatcher Pro cameras (12V) and my Covert cellular cameras (6V) will chew up alkaline or lithium batteries at a much faster rate than a regular trail camera running in picture mode. An SLA battery paired with a solar panel solves that problem for me.

I use the Energizer rechargeables and get months...literally months off a single charge with Moultrie cams. I recently got an Ansmann trickle/smart charger that is a definite improvement over fast chargers. I'm only taking pics though; no video.

I have Moultrie M80 Blacks and Covert 60 Blacks. They typically got 4-6 weeks or 2500-3000 pics on the cheap job smart batteries from TSC. When you say Energizer rechargeables, are you talking about the green and silver batteries, blue and silver batteries, or another? They make several different ones. I have some of the green and silver but not good results so far. I would just like to get the exact same thing someone else is have good results from before I try again.

I have the Recharge Power Plus batteries. They're the silver and green ones.

I'm not doing something right...

As others have suggested, you might just have some bad batteries or maybe something going on with the camera/settings itself? I'd think you'd be getting better performance though...something seems amiss. Wish I knew something else to recommend.

When I do my summer inventory the cam is set to only snap a pic 1 time with a 5 minute delay otherwise I get tons of pics of the same deer over and over. It stays in this mode for weeks on end and I don't even recharge them.

As the rut approaches I reset it to multi-shot w/no delay between pics especially if they are placed on trails or a scrapes so I hopefully don't miss anything. Even taking many, many more pics they last quite some time.
