Still kind of a newb hunter in my third season. How late in the season do y'all still find rattling effective? Any difference in results in mornings vs. evenings the later in the season it gets? Thx for any replies.
I rattled two young bucks back in after I had shot @ one of them in muzzleloader season decided when I got a better look not to shoot the one I had shot @ . But they where both young biggest probably 2.5 @ best other 1.5 spike .
I shot last year's TN buck on November 24th. He came running to the rattling horns.
Three years ago I shot a good one in Ohio on November 21st. Same thing, came straight in to the horns. Ohio's rut tends to run earlier than ours by a week or two, so I'd guess you can rattle well into December and expect some action.
I'd say there's several bucks pumped up right now that would welcome a fight....and some will still be cruising into December looking for does that hadnt been bred.
