Smokeless
I have a rem/Pacnor and didn't want the rod on the gun so I ordered one from Luke. It is trifold and very good quality. I also recommend a spin jag for your rod on any smokeless.

I ordered one on Monday from Luke and rec'd it today. Seems to be very good quality and compact. I have a SS Savage sitting in a Mcmillan stock and it's not set up to mount a ramrod beneath the barrel. This should work great

Wow, what a coincidence.....it turns out I just ordered a factory laminate stock from smokelessmz.com to replace the black tupperware. I didn't realize he also sold good ramrods. I see he sells 3 lengths. Which length is best for a stock Savage barrel - 24, 26 or 28 inch?

For those of you who use a collapsible ramrod with a MZer that that can hold a one piece ramrod (e.g. ML2 etc), what benefit do you find "while hunting"? I am still trying to visualize how a 3 piece collapsible stored in a case of some sort is easier, quicker and better to access and utilize while in a deer stand, when compared to a one piece that can be slid out from underneath the barrel in seconds and utilized? What am I missing here? Is it personal preference, the "in thing" or what?

The collapsible rods deploy just as fast as one under the barrel. As soon as they come out of the sheath they pop themselves together. They are 3 piece but all 3 pieces are connected with a bungee type chord though the center.

I guess I would have to see one in action to really "get it". It is hard for me to visualize setting your gun down/propping it up, grabbing a sheath, bag etc, (using both hands to do so where I use one) pulling the 3 pieces out and they "pop together", and it being virtually the same as far as time and ease of use.

The collapsible ones would be appealing if I upgraded to a stock that didn't have a ramrod channel. I don't think I have the tools needed to do a good ramrod channel installation, so I would probably just go with a collapsible ramrod.

I will have to deal with this at some point, because I acquired a thumbhole laminate stock for my other 10ML II and it does not have a ramrod channel.

if you got a factory replacement from Luke it will have ramrod channel, mine did. the collapsible ramrods aren't worth a crap if you ever have to pull with one. Don't try to these with a tipped bullet like a sst without a jag of some type... the tip on the bullet will get stuck in the bottom of the ramrod and then you got a pain in the arse... I prefer the knight rods form Numrich that screw together....At the cost of $13 you can buy a coulple...

I use Knight power rod. Solid aluminum with pivoting T handle. Bought 3 when they were $18 apiece. Now if you can find one at all they are 30-35 bucks. Still worth it I think.
