Question for the pistol guys.

I have a black powder revolver with a .45 Colt conversion cylinder. I'm wanting to hunt with it. My question is, will a 250 grain lead flat nose do the job?

i would say yes as long as it is a close well placed shot

Yes, look at all the old blackpowder cartridges and muzzle loaders with round balls that have been used to kill deer in the past. If you can shoot well enough to connect, it will punch a hole in a deer. I have a load I use in my 45 Colt revolvers that gets about 850 fps with a 255 gr flat point cast from a LEE mold using wheel weights. I would trust it to kill a deer. Now do I trust myself to HIT the deer with the revolver at this moment?? No. I've not practiced nearly enough in a long time. :shock:

Short range, under 20 yards. I think I may take it out this year.

Yeah it will do the job but as stated it takes practice and more practice.
