I was looking at different nurseries on the web and read the article in quality whitetails about pear trees. I was wondering are the hybrids sold by wildlife nurseries worth spending extra money or are the normal pear varieties like ayers, moonglow, etc. just as good for deer. I am going to buy some to add to my food plots and I am trying to decide which to go with.

The wildlife varieties like the ones sold by the Wildlife Group and Ed Fort are very good cultivars chosen for wildlife qualities like disease resistance, etc. They are very good choices if you want to get 3 or 4 season pears without doing alot of research on what actual varieties are best for your situation. I love the research myself though. Pears are something I need to expand on myself when I get back home, I only have 2 of 4 bases covered at the moment.
