Had 4 dang pullouts last couple days on DP's. All bait gone and no feet inside. All had circles as well, so they didn't do it immediately.
Nope, 3 different traps & nothing in reach to grab onto. Are they all on the same trap? Is there something close they are grabbing onto to help them pull, like a tree or a fence?
Screwdriver works well. Set at home and use a short piece of pvc to hold the jaw open, easy to set on site. You can get the setting tool for Dukes DP's on line , it works great.
Do you use chain stakes for an anchor? If so you can use your anchor driver to set them. I've done that quite a bit when I have it close by.What brand are they? I run Dukes and can't ever recall one gettin out. Can be hard to handset but they definitely hold.
Not even greenbrier? We've had to remove a bunch around traps because they will grab it and pull out. Even the roots of the greenbrier. I don't blame them - desperate times call for desperate measures.Nope, 3 different traps & nothing in reach to grab onto.
I use a 24" stainless steel braided cable, aluminum compression connectors, and a tiny carabiner.Do you use chain stakes for an anchor?
This right here also mice will get i them and trip them to and it not catch . But coyotes and i have video from a trail cam of a bobcat stealing a coon from one also. I will see if I can find it. Once a coyote figures it out you will have trouble with coons coming up missingAnd I think some of the pull outs are coyotes finding them and ripping them out of there. We've found several that appeared to be pullouts and found a carcass 5-50 yards away eaten by coyotes
1/2 to 3/4 fullToo much bait allowing them to not get deep enough in the trap?
I carry a pair of snippers to trim stuff out of way.Not even greenbrier? We've had to remove a bunch around traps because they will grab it and pull out. Even the roots of the greenbrier. I don't blame them - desperate times call for desperate measures.
