Headed out to the farm over the weekend to try and take a doe. So about 4:30 or so I hear something coming in from the fence row. I watch as a doe comes in and gets into my shooting lane and gives me a 75 yd broadside shot. She runs back into the tall grass and I think I hear her crash just another 20 yds away. I wait a few minutes and start walking in that direction when a see whitetail bouncing away. I keep watch as it moves to an opening in the field and I make an off hand shot at maybe 75 yds and it drops almost right there. I head over to get her and see only one bullet hole. Im thinking I know I didnt miss earlier so go back to the tall grass and there lies the first doe. .. an unexpected double and a first for me.

Congratulations! I almost did the same 2 years ago on Opening Day of rifle season. I shot a doe at about 80 yards and it simply vanished after I got the sight picture back from the recoil. Then I see a tail bouncing away - something told me it was another deer - and it was. My deer had fallen in its tracks and the ground rose just enough between us to block me from seeing it. It's a great way to fill the freezer fast though!

Congrats. I have doubled 1 time. Vowed that I didn't want to do that again. A lot of work dressing and dragging 2 by yourself.
