for those that use red dot sights (tubeless especially as that is what i ordered). how far down the action do you put it...pretty close to the barrel or closer to your face?

i have never owned or shot a red dot site so i really have no clue. I ordered a mueller quick shot to try and fix my POA issues so it will be my first.

Problem i have is i have to drill and tap my gun so i really am not 100% sure where to tell the guy to put the base. I dont have the sight yet so i cant put it on there and see AND i have to get the gun to the guy today so he can tap it for me.

???? i guess just put the base in the middle and go from there??

ren im not to sure either but there was pic last night of a guys gun on here with red dot on it and it looked more close to the face...i believe the gun was a remington 837 or something

The open style like you have works best closer to you. They are designed to shoot with both eyes open, so the closer they are the more the frame and glass disappear and looks like a red dot floating around in front of you. It was awkward at first but once you get used to it you will like it up close with both eyes open.

I'd love to learn to shoot with both eyes open, just can't focus

its not that hard, i have just been doing it since i learned to shoot 22 years ago. I do it will all weapons and it is just second nature now. It is tough when shooting pistols though as the sights are much further from you eyes.

i dont know if it is any more accurate or not, but i do know it has advantages especially with target acquisition and allows more light on the target. it also really helps on fast moving targets to keep on the aim point.

also if you dont have perfect vision like myself it helps me keep my target in better focus.
