Fury universals.

I haven't hunted with them yet but bought some to shoot out of my Remington 700 Ultimate and they shoot great. They are bonded and most reviews about their performance (mostly on elk) I've read seem to be good ones.

I just got some Fury 265gr STB in .452 to try out. They are bonded as well. Hopefully they work well with the harvester cr sabots and BH209.

1.5" 3 shot group at 160 yds.
I did do a penetration test.
Let me run out to the garage.
I'll be right back.
Alrighty, I'm back.
295 g Powerbelt with the green tip. 2 white hotts
Shot from 50 yards.
Here's some pics.
Penetrated about 1.5" of a McMaster Carr catalog.
Now the deer I shot last year ran about 150 yards but I didn't spot the first blood until 100 yards and by the time I found him, there was blood all over the place.
I'm about done eating that big boy and we ran into no fragments.
Picture of the deer again because he was my 1st.
Waiting for the mount to get done.

A friend of mine found these at a yard sale for $5 the other day.
I've heard a ton of terrible feedback on so-called powerbelts, and I passed on them...

I use the 250 grain aerolite and it's designed for a 100 grain charge and does expand quicker from what I read on all reviews . The accuracy is absolutely amazing. Those looking for a larger slower expanding bullet have you tried the power belt platinum? From what I read it is designed for a larger charge and expands slower. It comes in three size ranges from 270 all the way to 338 grain. The guy recommended them actually for deer or elk. Just wondering if anyone has tried the platinum? They were also very accurate in his test.

ok all. so, help me understand. not trying to start anything, just want some help understanding what you all are talking about. much of what I have learned has been self taught. I've not done a lot of research on bullet performance because, in my opinion, mine have done what I think is good. the biggest majority of the time deer drop in their tracks. I've had a few run less than 100 yards - some with better blood trails than others. Is it wrong not to be worried about blood trails when the deer pretty much falls in their tracks or within sight distance? these bullets were all recovered from the deer.

To be clear, I'm shooting Powerbelt 295 HP. I've attached a photo of 12 recovered PB's. I see, from my understanding, four of them are quite mangled, while 8 appear to me to be near perfect expansion? I never like the Aerotips, so I use the HP only.

at 50 caliber i could care less about expansion. I prefer a pass through and no bullet recovery.

Same here. Can dang near pick a hair through the scope using those in my Impact.

I get similar accuracy and typically get a passthrough. The few bullets I did recover were perfect mushrooms on quartering shots through a shoulder. I got boxes and boxes just in case they ever get hard to find.

Sadly, Powerbelt quit making my bullets (Areotip 405 grn). Once the 12 I've got left are gone, I don't know what I'm going to do.
I can't say enough good things about the Barnes Expanders.

100% copper, crazy weight retention. I have tested them out to 250 yards with good accuracy.

And the blood trails.... oh man. I've never seen anything quite like it.

If I was still stuck in the olden days, I'd rather use a pistol bullet vs anything branded as a muzzleloader bullet readily available at any big box store. And having anything powerbelt shoved down the barrel is far worse than any pistol bullet! Big holes don't mean much if you don't have any expansion.
I'm exactly the opposite. A 50 caliber hole is plenty big. I DON'T want much expansion, as that can slow the bullet down and prevent a full pass-through.

Thanks, I'll look into those.

Put my in the camp of no longer using Powerbelts. Too many issues with blood trails and deer running. I found the old school XTPs to perform much better.

As of late, I've been buying either XTPs or the Hornady 300 gr HP .458 rifle bullets in bulk and then buying the MMP sabots separately. Much better value than pre-packaged 15-20 bullets.
