I have been shooting pyrodex and ran out so I was thinking of getting something that is a little easier to clean but shot about the same. If I change powders will I have to realign my scope also? What powder would you guys and gals recomend.

Use to shoot pyrodex..then went to Jim Shockey gold which was a big mistake. Picked up some Triple 7 Friday and did have to adjust my scope 3 in down at 100 but that was it. Very consistant and clean burning. Just cleaned my gun and it took very little effort. I shoot 100gr and 240 sabot. I will be shooting 777 based on everything else I have shot. It is much cleaner than either Pyro or Shockey. Good luck

You didn't mention what gun you shoot but that could determine which powder you can use. If you don't mind the cost and your gun will shoot it then I would suggest Blackhorn 209. Very easy to clean, very consistant, no need to swab between shots and a powerful powder.

If you can't shoot blackhorn or do not want to pay for it then I would suggest 777. Almost as easy to clean as BH and just about as powerful. The two big pros to 777 are the cost and the lower flash point needed to ignite it.

Any powder you switch to, yes, you will need to check your scope. I have one gun that will chage POI with switching primers.

Question: I'm shoting 777 pellets and they're doing pretty well for me, basically one hole groups at 50 yards. What is your (anyone) experience with loose 777? Other than being able to fine tune the load a bit better than with pellets, does loose powder generally give better accuracy than pellets or is it an individual gun thing?

I'm going to try the new Hornady FBP (?) bullets this weekend and was thinking about trying both loose and pellets while I'm experimenting.

I shoot 777 pellets, and can't see why I would ever change to another product. I shoot an Omega with a SS barrel.
I have poured powder before, and I don't see any benefit by doing it. Real pain in the field reloading. I shoot well enough with it for the hunting I do.

Easy to use.
Shoots great.
Easy to clean.

That's been my experience as well. Based on what I've seen here, unless you're needing something in between what pellets do, results are pretty mixed between loose and pelltes. For my needs, one hole @ 50 yards is more than adequate.

What he said with the only difference is I shoot an Encore with a stainless steel barrel.
