This year due to various health issues I am gonna be toting a 7mm08 CVA Optima Elite topped with a Weaver scope and pumping 120 grain Barnes TTSX downrange.
I alternate between 270 WIN, 260 REM, and 243 WIN, depending on my mood.
The 260 REM (or the new 6.5 Creedmore)is the best pure deer cartridge, IMO. The 7mm-08 is a close second, but I prefer the slightly better ballistics of the .264 bullet.
I use a lot of the big bore lever action rounds, mainly .375 winchester, 45/70,.444 Marlin, and .44 mag. I have a hard time leaving the 30/30 in the safe though.
If I'm carrying a bolt rifle, it'll be a . 243 or my Remington Classic in 8x57 Mauser. Love that round.
