I've got 3 places that's about 3/4 acre total that I'm looking to create food plots in this year. The problem I see is that they are in bottoms that could be wet or be under water for days after a good rain. Looking back at old photos from the 40s to present, these areas were small ponds at some point when the area was pasture. Now it's heavily wooded areas. What types of seed does everyone recommend for these areas? I was thinking just clover but I read some where that it doesn't like wet areas. Same with brassicas.

Thanks

How about rice 😉
I've got 2 places that are similar and finally gave up on them. Dry years they'd make it, wet ones it was a waste of time & money.

Been there, doing that...

Either don't plant

OR plant and roll the dice. That being said, some of those wet places if large enough are plenty dry to grow a summer crop to leave standing for the fall/ winter (beans).

Personally, my wet places are so close to my better plots that I just go ahead and plant ($35 per acre for seed, plus 50lbs triple 13 fertilizer (I'm skimping)).

This 2ac plot is my nemesis...

Fall 2021 after planting, getting 13 inches of rain the following week, then replanting 2w later and more rain
