Planting cuttings?

I have elderberry, wild plum, crabapple. I'm thinking these are some varieties that you cut tips off limbs, 12" long and shove into ground? Any other species? Am I right on this?

I've done elderberry and plums. Always heard crabs are hard but can be done with usually a low success rate. Do some research and get the right rooting hormone would be my advice.
